Lansdale resident John Anthony Pallante, who prosecutors claimed descended upon a paralyzed Hatfield man like a vulture, was convicted of stealing more than $20,000 from the frail man while helping to care for him.Pallante, 44, most recently of the 600 block of Cannon Avenue, showed no emotion and declined to comment Thursday moments after a Montgomery County jury convicted him of felony charges of theft by unlawful taking and conspiracy to commit theft in connection with thefts that occurred between March 2006 and February 2007 while he lived with the Hatfield man.
Heather Hall, 38, Pallante’s former roommate and girlfriend, previously pleaded guilty to theft and conspiracy charges and testified against Pallante during the two-day trial. Pallante and Hall once resided together in a second-floor apartment at the victim’s home in the 400 block of South Main Street in Hatfield.“They descended upon him like vultures from the second floor. They saw him as an easy target and preyed upon him,” alleged Assistant District Attorney Tracey Potere. “They took his money and left him with nothing.”
