20 Years for Drunk Driving Dad who Paralyzed Daughter

Justin Blashaw, 30, of Fairview Park was sentenced to 20 years in jail Aug. 27 for a drunken driving crash that left his 7-year-old daughter permanently paralyzed.

Blashaw pleaded guilty earlier this month to aggravated vehicular assault, two counts of driving under the influence, four counts of child endangerment and obstructing official business.
The accident took place at about 1 a.m. May 17 while Blashaw was driving his girlfriend's car without a license. He crashed on Interstate 90 in Rocky River near the Hilliard Boulevard exit with his children inside, leaving 4-year-old Zara with a broken foot. His 7-year-old daughter Kyah was sitting in the front seat and suffered severe brain damage and a broken spine. She is receiving treatment at the Cleveland Clinic.
